Podium Bound
We secured our first major goal today. Michael Hayter flew an incredible line to finish 2nd on today’s Club Class 320K Racing task, earning his spot on tomorrow’s podium. Tyler Baron chased him down fiercely, finishing just outside the top three in 4th place. Our next mission is clear: capture two spots on that podium and lock them down until the final finish line.
Rewriting History in the Team Cup
Gliding may look like an individual sport, but the World Championships feature a unique team format called The Team Cup. Any country with three or more pilots is eligible. We have exactly three, and every single daily score counts.
We are currently sitting in 2nd place overall, a mere 6 points out of 1st.
Our Club Class pilots are flying out of their skins, and Standard Class pilot Pat Cernuto is providing the steady hand we need, delivering critical points every single day. Everyone is carrying their share of the load.
Surfing the German Wave
Both Standard and Club classes tackled a tricky 320K task today. The big surprise? Thermal wave conditions in Germany! It pushed our pilots along at an impressive clip and incredible altitudes. Airspace caps out at 9,500 feet, and the boys reported cruising right near that ceiling for over 30 minutes. To say I am jealous is an understatement—I want to fly that wave!
Captain’s Notes
Tomorrow, I will be the one smiling for our entire country. I am incredibly proud to be here watching these young pilots shine on the world stage.
