Mike is a third-generation pilot who grew up at the Texas Soaring Association running wings and learning all he could about soaring. He currently works as a Flight Qualified Instructor at CAE, teaching and flying in the Global Express jet. First soloing on his fourteenth birthday, earning his Silver Badge in a 1-26 that same summer and flying his first competition in the 1-26 Championships at sixteen, he was hooked. He is a Kolstad Scholarship recipient, currently holds several Texas state records and received the Henry Combs Trophy for the Central Zone in 2017 and 2019. Mike won the 2017 and 2019 US Club Class Nationals. Experienced at the international level, he has flown competitions in England, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, France and participated in a soaring safari to Kiripotib, Namibia last winter. Mike looks forward to teaming up in Narromine with Tony Condon in Club Class. Soaring editor David Hart will be acting as crew for his Discus.
