Mike was born and raised in the soaring community. He spent his childhood summers crewing for his dad (KM) and volunteering at competitions all over the country. He began flying in a SGS 2-33 as soon as he could reach the controls, eventually soloing at 14. After brief sabbatical from soaring, he wised up and earned his private in 2015. He competed in his first Regionals in 2018 and his first Nationals in 2021. He was able to compete in the 2024 15m Nationals thanks only to his wife Brittni, who stayed home to care for their 6-week-old newborn baby.
When Mike isn’t flying or competing with his brothers Danny (DS) and Matt (6T), he works as a Technical Advisor for oil & gas equipment supplier in Houston. At home, he and Brittni are brain washing their 3 children, Hunter (7), Colin (4) and Holly (0), to be the 4th generation of soaring pilots in the family. Mike and his family are honored and excited to represent the USA in our first World Gliding Championships.
