Position Summary

The Part-Time Digital Content Specialist will assist in the development and execution of SSA’s digital content strategy, helping to enhance member engagement and public outreach. This position focuses on creating, publishing, and optimizing content for SSA’s website, social media channels, and email communications. The ideal candidate has a passion for digital storytelling and experience collaborating with content creators and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Locate or create and publish original digital content to promote soaring and engage SSA members.
  • Format and repurpose existing content for digital platforms (e.g., resizing images, adjusting text, ensuring consistency, set up templates).
  • Use and maintain SSA’s editorial calendar to plan and publish content across the organization’s website, email, and social media platforms.
  • Partner with multimedia specialist to plan, obtain and distribute compelling multimedia content.
  • Support and develop email communication efforts, including newsletters and campaign updates.
  • Monitor and analyze digital content performance to optimize engagement.
  • Collaborate with SSA staff and volunteers to ensure submitted content ideas are consistent with messaging and branding.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with similar organizations to create co-branded storytelling opportunities.
  • Ensure content adheres to editorial and brand guidelines.
  • Engage freelance or volunteer content creators to supplement SSA’s content pipeline.
  • Maintain a digital content inventory to ensure a steady stream of publishable material.

Qualifications

  • College degree or equivalent experience in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience with gliding or aviation.
  • 2-4 years of experience in digital content creation and management.
  • Proficiency in content management systems (e.g., WordPress), social media platforms, and email marketing tools.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Basic knowledge of SEO, HTML, website analytics tools, and graphic design tools.
  • Ability to work remotely.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in nonprofits, aviation, or membership organizations.
