It's GO! for SSA to Oshkosh 2006!

At the recently concluded Convention, the SSA Board made a firm commitment to the volunteer-manned soaring exhibit at the EAA Oshkosh Airventure® show in July 2006. Now our volunteer management team is organizing to make it as attractive a showcase for the sport of soaring as possibly. The current plan is to exhibit two sailplanes, a Ximango to represent motor gliders, and a Sparrowhawk for the purists. Aside from having literature regarding SSA, FAST and “Where to Fly”, etc. the display will include continuous soaring videos to help attract attention.

The number of clubs, businesses and individual members that have already contributed toward the cost of the exhibit space is encouraging. We want this effort to fully represent as many aspects of the sport as possible, so there are still numerous participation opportunities open to YOU. Monetary donations are still being accepted. These will help add to the appeal of the booth (to provide more sunshades, more professional display material or more advanced video equipment...) but your time and volunteer labor would be equally useful and welcome. No volunteer will be turned away. If you can be there to help on-site, that would be great; but if you cannot be there yourself, you can still help with the organization and planning and preparation that will be needed. YOUR ideas on improving our outreach effort are welcome, and will be considered for inclusion.

Look for progress reports on the web, in the e-news, and in “Soaring” magazine.

This is an unequalled opportunity to introduce soaring to the rest of the sport aviation world, to make new friends and get new members for SSA, associated clubs & chapters, and for the sport as a whole.
