Region 9 North - 8-5-2014 Day 2

Again the weather forecasts and models do not match with what we are seeing out the window.  Forecasts call for good potential for OD in the tasking area, lower CB then Monday and 2-4 degrees cooler.  Concerns are getting launched, sticking and working lift band of 2-3K.

Task advisory committee decides on 2.5 hour TAT for all classes.  Launch starts at 1pm with FAI class.  Climbs start slowly and everyone sticks so sports and 18M launches.

Similar to Monday the forecats did not match reality and we had a great day of soaring.

Some good speeds in FAI and sports.  Check out the 18M class with Steve Nichols smoking the task area for 182.56 miles at 90.4 MPH.  Lets put this in perspective;  the maximum distance for the task was 182 .94 and Steve covered 99.79% of the possible task area in 2 hours.  WOW

Hoping for better weather and forecasts the next few days.

All 38 pilots are positive and having a good time.
