Region 10 South - Blue skies and haze

Tday's tasks, as described by CD Ken Sorenson "should be fun!"  Both classes were given 3 hr MAT's with 9 turnpoints, allowing the pilots to return home at any time, or continue their tasks with 2 additional turnpoints.  The turnpoints are:  Gibbony Creek, Somerville, Bellville, Navasota, Anderson, TX World Speedway, Independence, PK Ranch and Fairweather....keeping the pilots relatively close to home, with a nominal distance of 214.71 miles.

At the gate opening, pilots were reporting 3-4 knots to 4500 AGL.  Not a cloud in the sky, the lift is expected to get to 6,000 with temperatures in the triple digits!  Hope they've all got on hats and sunscreen!  Welcome to Texas!

This morning's pilot's meeting was highlighted by the KTRK video and report, shot and prepared here at the field.  Other than flying "seaplanes" and worrying about the wind, the reported got most of it right.  Check out the video at:  http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/video?id=9197436.
