Region 11 - Day 1

After an unusually strong cold front moved through Northern California on Friday the potential for a great soaring day was good, if the day did not OD. The task was Ukiah, Berryessa Dam, Indian Ranch and back home with 15 mile radius to help avoid the big buildups. Launch started at 12:00 and the gate opened at 12:35 with good lift and cloud base at 6000ft. Everyone started right away as you could see that the day was probably going to OD. Starting at about 1:30 it started to rain at the Airport and did not stop until 4:30 or 5:00. You could see blue sky to the west with nice looking Cu but over the Airport and towards the last turn was nothing but rain. From the ground it looked like you would be lucky just to get to the first turn and home I was very surprised to see how far everyone got, with the top 3 coming close to finishing the task. About 6:00 the sun came back out and all the retrieves were back at about 6:30 just in time for the planned BBQ. We all enjoyed great food and great company. Hopefully Day 2 will be a little dryer!
