Region 4 South - Saturday Contest Report

Saturday September 26 Contest Report

The rains continued lightly all night and into today.  Our weather forecaster, Ray Galloway says that these conditions will continue all day with periods of heavy rain likely.  With this outlook, our CD, Dick Butler called the day off at the 10:00 pilot’s meeting.

Our Contest winners are Baude Litt in the Standard Class with a 56 point lead over Herbert Killian who finished second.  Dave Cole was third.  This is Baude’s 4th   win at BRSS’s Region 4 South.

In the 15 Meter Class Karl Striedieck finished first, with Roy McMaster second, and Hank Nixon third.  Karl also is a many time winner here.

Al Tyler won the 18 Meter Class with a 27 point lead over John Murray, and a 31 point lead over John Seymour who was third.

In spite of the inclement weather we were fortunate to get in a contest.  But it appears that all the contestants had a good time despite our getting in only 2 out of 6 days.  This is our 28th consecutive regional, starting with the one in 1982.  It is our hope to host many more, though hopefully with better weather.  We especially thank our Contest Manager, Patty Smith, for her long work and infinite patience in organizing this contest; our Competition Director, Dick Butler,  for his good task calls; and our Weather Forecaster, Ray Galloway, for his accurate forecasts in spite of very confusing data.

See you next year,

Leo Buckley, Scorer
