Once again the team seems to have impressive days and days when the word “impressive” doesn’t quite fit at least in respect to the score. The task was a very long flight into a completely blue sky. At one point they were down to 500 feet but they somehow were both able to get away and finished the task. Unfortunately, that cost them in respect to time and they finished 25^th and 26^th. Looking at their trace it seemed that missing one thermal was their downfall as it put them in jeopardy of landing out and Garret had an airfield already picked out when he managed to find something to save his flight. Today the task is similar to yesterday in that it is a 328 K flight going first north and then south. The weather is supposed to have some clouds, but is forecast to be mainly blue. The guys left on course at 1307 and so far we have only heard of one landout. Tomorrow’s weather report is rather problematic as whether we fly at all depends on an approaching cold front. Rain is forecast for tonight so we hope that it goes through quickly and leaves good weather in its wake.
