US Team Committee Call for Nominations
The USTC is seeking nominations for a position on the team committee. An election will be held later in March to select the third elected member of the TC. Terms are for three years. Ideal candidate would have an interest or background in fundraising. Unlike the Rules Committee, racing experience is not required. Please note that nomination will be by your regional director. Contact Peter Deane, Sarah Arnold, or Richard Walters for any questions about the committee. They can be contacted through the SSA member locator. Most team communication is by email and conference calls, with an occasional meeting at the SSA conventions.
For details of the USTC please read the following link.

US Team Committee Election is Underway
Two positions on the 2012 US Team Committee are up for election. All SSA members are eligible to vote at:
The election is open until January 9.
The US Team Committee manages the pilot selection, organization, and funding of the SSA teams which compete in World Gliding Championships (see more at www.ssa.org > Sailplane Racing > US Teams). The committee consists of two members appointed by the SSA Board (US Team Committee Chair and Contest Committee Chair), three elected members, and the SSA Chair. The three elected members each serve staggered three year terms.
Ron Tabery’s term on the committee is up at the end of December. Doug Jacobs is retiring from the committee after many years serving as committee chairman. Bill Elliot was elected to the committee at the end of 2010, but subsequently was appointed to the committee to replace Doug as Chair. Doug agreed to serve the first year of Bill’s 3-year elected term. This year’s election will select one person to fill the three-year position currently held by Ron and a second person to fill the remaining 2 years of Bill’s elected term. Rick Walters continues to serve on the committee in his elected position.
Candidates for the two positions were nominated by SSA’s Regional Directors and are: Sarah Kelly Arnold, Peter Deane, Sean Franke, John Godfrey, and Ron Tabery.

US Team Committee - Call for Nominations
The US Team Committee consists of two members appointed by the SSA Board (US Team Committee Chair and Contest Committee Chair), three elected members, and the SSA Chair. The three elected members each serve staggered three year terms.
Our charter requires that nominations for elected seats be made by Regional Directors. If you are interested in serving on the committee, please contact your Regional Director.
There are two positions open for this election. Ron Tabery’s term is up at the end of December and he is running for reelection. This year’s election will select someone to fill the remaining 2 years of Bill’s elected term.
Nominations must be in by December 12. We will run an on-line election process during the last two weeks of December and the successful candidate will join the Committee at the end of the year.
US Team Committee Statement Regarding the 2011 Junior WGC
During the recent JWGC, the US Team Committee (USTC) determined that the behavior and conduct of one member did not meet the standards or Code of Conduct set forth in the US Team Policies and Procedures (210 USST Team Policy & Procedures Ver 14, 01/14/04 ). The behavior and conduct were discussed with the team captain and this team member. It was made clear that the behavior would not be tolerated; and, that if not corrected, the next course of action would be removal from the team and competition.
Inappropriate behavior persisted, leaving no option other than removal from the team and the competition. In addition, further disciplinary actions are being taken by the USTC to include, but not limited to, a reduction in the amount of reimbursement from US Team funds.
While the USTC deeply regrets that this action was necessary, we cannot and will not abide serious material failures of the US Team members to hold to the standards of conduct expected of all team members while representing the SSA, US Team and USA.

We thank SZ for his wisdom, perspective and work over the years of his service to the Committee, welcome Bill as an energetic and capable new member, and thank both Peter Deane and Sean Franke for their interest in serving, and hope that they will continue to be supportive of the Committee’s efforts.

US Team Announces Winner of ClearNav Raffle
Walter Cannon of Palo Alto, CA is the proud new owner of the ClearNav. The winning ticket was drawn at the R4S contest at New Castle, Va. That is Contest Manager Patty Smith holding the ClearNav Raffle "bag." Perry Pate reached in and pulled the winning ticket. She held it up and said...."Daddy!" That's her younger sister, Mary Parker Pate next to her. They are the daughters of Skip and Frankie Pate. Scorer Leo Buckley supervised the proceedings.
"Needless to say I am thrilled by the news that I have won the ClearNav from the world team raffle" replied Walter when he received the notification. "I had planned to update my flight management panel this winter so the timing for this surprise is perfect. It will be installed in my Discus 2B as soon as I can."
Many thanks to NK and all who participated in the raffle and for supporting the US Team.
