AD Issued on various Cessna crew seats
This new directive (AD) is for Cessna 172R, 172S, 182S, 182T, 206H and T206H airplanes. This AD results from reports of the crew seat back cylinder lock assembly failing at the aft end and other cylinder lock assemblies found cracked. This failure could cause uncontrolled movement of the seat back, resulting in possible backward collapse during flight, and pitch-up in flight if crew holds the control yoke. (This potential failure could be particularly distressing while aerotowing!)
This AD has several layers of compliance: installation of a kit based on time on the airframe, or inspection and log entries for compliance with a similar earlier service bulletin modifications.
This AD becomes effective on April 11, 2007. Full text of the AD may be found here.
