2003 SSA Annual Convention Update

Update Dec. 31st Join us in Dayton, Ohio for the 2003 SSA Convention and Air Sports Expo from January 23-25,2003. On Wednesday, January 22nd the Soaring Safety Foundation will present their annual safety seminar. The convention is the highlight of the SSA calendar each year and the 2003 event promises to be especially interesting with a special private reception at the USAF Museum at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. BULLETIN: The General Membership Meeting on Friday, January 24th will feature a presentation by the new Transportation Security Administration. TSA's participation in the convention is a great opportunity to learn more about the changes taking place in our aviation world.

Marriott Hotel, located a five minute drive from the Convention Center. Free shuttles will be available to and from the hotel to the convention center. Telephone 937-223-1000 for reservations. Convention rate $73.

Visit the Early Years Gallery and learn how military flight began. The gallery offers one of the finest World War I aircraft collections in the world. The first round-the-world flight and early technological develop-ments bring you to the beginning of World War II.

A look at the Museum's Air Power Gallery will bring you into the heat of World War II, the jet age, Korea and Vietnam.

Move into the Space Gallery and see the forerunners of today's space suits, the evolutions of foods and items used by America's astronauts in space, a moon rock and more.

There is also the Presidential Air Force One Aircraft and Research and Development/Flight Test Hangars. The Museum's Research Division maintains historical information, technical manuals, personal papers and other USAF
related documents.

The evening will include food, entertainment and full access to all exhibits.
Free shuttle service will be provided from the convention hotels beginning at 5:45 p.m. on Friday evening.
