Airspace and Sport Pilot Rules Major Topics at SSA Convention

The new Sport Pilot NPRM issued by the FAA and the status of US airspace in the wake of Sept. 11th will be major topics during the next two days at the SSA Convention currently underway in Ontario, California. FAA representatives responsible for the Sport Pilot initiative will meet in forum discussions with members of the US Ultralight Assn., the SSA and the US Hang Gliding Assn. On Saturday the FAA Associate Administrator for Air Traffic Steve Brown will address the plenary session. His topic will be the current status of US airspace in the wake of Sept. 11th and a discussion of what the fuure may hold for new regulations controlling access and use of airspace. Mr. Brown will meet with the SSA Board of Directors as well. The SSA Convention will go on through Saturday, February 9th.
