Important Update for Badge and Record Seekers
New rules and a recent finding by FAI’s International Gliding Committee (“IGC”) make it official: Effective 1 October 2009 -
- A pre-flight declaration is required for all badge and record flights using an IGC approved Flight Recorder (“FR”). This declaration must include the glider’s registration or serial number, not an SSA-assigned contest number.
- When a barograph alone is used for badge flight altitude gain, duration or straight distance from release to landing, an Official Observer’s pre-flight ID mark must be on the barogram, but no pre-flight declaration is required.
