Perlan Project

The Perlan Project, Steve Fossett and Einar Enevoldson, had two successful flights at Inyokern, California, on Sunday, February 13. The purpose of the flights was to confirm that the sailplane and all systems are in working order. The two pilots were fitted to their pressure suits. They had two successful flights in which all systems worked properly. A mild wave was contacted on the second flight. They are now ready to make their test flights in the Sierra Nevada this spring. Walt Rogers will be the advisor for predicting favorable wave soaring conditions. It is hoped good wave weather will exist in March and following months before re-positioning to Patagonia.
