18 Meter National - May 18 Report

This morning we learned that the downturn in the weather will last through Friday, the last scheduled contest day.  We are all convinced that, of the three remaining days, today was the only one that had a chance to be flyable.

So, obviously, the first order of business was to move the awards banquet to today. The caterers absorbed this change without a squeak.

We gridded just before noon under a tenebrous sky.

The sun peeked out at 1345, but it was evident by 1400 that we were done for the day, and for the contest.

Out on the grid, Eric made the call, and Jerzy's fellow competitors gathered around to congratulate the new 18 Meter Class Champion.
