18 Meter, Open and US Club Class Nationals - End of contest day

6W Bill Snead  Terrific, I'm back. Nancy threatened to chuck him if he landed out again, and said she would NOT pick him up.  I didn't think it would be very good, but shortly after the gate opened we were getting 7 and 8 knot thermals and every time I got low I got up quickly with good thermals.  Low on 2nd leg and again at an oilfield west of Hobbs, but got up quickly again.  I think about 3.5 hours.
Call was right on.  I'm a task advisor.  I told CD that the consensus of the group didn't want to fly more than 200 miles, so he called a 200 mile task.

FC Shack Roberts, who will be leaving the US next week for home in England. His day was "horrible".  I got down to less than 1000 ft. just going into the 3rd turn over lots of wet fields.
Good task.  If you got into the right place in the right time you could have a great day.

F8 Bill Gawthrop  I made a mistake and went out first and it was actually not bad, but I didn't have any markers, so I don't know how I did against everyone else.  Blue in places and when I finallly got across a blue area, the the clouds weren't working, 1,300 feet at Crossroads and turn and  got a thermal which got me home.
Good call, actually I thought it would be bluer than it was and there were cu's that we could reach.

Our remote scorer, John Godfrey is traveling and scores will be up later.
