2015 Seniors Soaring Championship - Mar 15 Report

This was a day that featured a variety of weather reports. Depending on the source, we were predicted to see strong lift to over 6000’, a low cold front that would seriously limit lift, late-developing weak lift, mid-afternoon spreadout that would kill all lift, and moderate lift to moderate altitudes.

In the event, we enjoyed good lift, but only in a limited area fairly near home – both south and north of home pilots found blue and weak conditions, and most were happy with a wimpy turn-area task that produced just one landout.

First for the day was Bif Huss (who drove here from Colorado) with almost 60 mph over 111 miles. Second was Baude Litt (all the way from Belgium) with a similar speed and distance.
