15 Meter/Open Class Nationals - AM Wx. 2nd Practice Day Task

The weather should be similar yesterday with Shasta Valley thermals to 12,000 ft. and in the eastern area a little higher;maybe 13,500 to 14,000 with cu markers.  One model does suggest potential for some compromising cirrus in the mid afternoon.

Todays task is a 3 hr TAT which will take the contestants south and then east.

This contest is being run by the veteran folks at Williams Soaring.  The entire family is involved; Rex and Noelle Mayes and their 2 sons, Ben and Nick.  Rex and Williams Soaring has been in business since 1981.  Noelle, who is a pilot and comes from a flying family, joined in the early 1990's and gets paid the big bucks as the accounting person, tow pilot and everything else imaginable.  They became the FBO's at the Montague Rohrer airport in 2012. They have been generous with their time and talents in the soaring community, most recently as administrators of the loaner Flarm devices, a huge contribution to competitive soaring.  Their boys, Ben and Nick, didn't fall far from the family tree and are exceptional young men.  Thank you Team Mayes!
