15 Meter/Open Class Nationals - 6pm

Today's task was an innocuous 2.5 hr. MAT designed to allow the competitors to take a look at the Gunsight and China starts.  The day began with a few cu's down south along the familiar convergence line and a few more cu's over the Marble Mts., east of Scott Valley.  Launches began around 12:45ish and a number of participants took a tow.  The area around and south of Duzel Rock progressively filled in with cu at around 13,000 ft. A thinly scattered cu field could be seen in the eastern contest area, but the big valley was blue and thermals were almost non-existent making the transitions across the valley tedious and slower. The thermals in the eastern contest area was not as strong.  Overall, this was a strong Montague soaring day.
