Region 9 Moriarty - Saturday, June 8 - Fourth and Final Contest Day

The task called for the FAI classes was a Turn Area Task with turn points at Patterson Ranch (radius 7 mi), TransWest (radius 30 mi), Sandia East (radius 7 mi) and Estancia (radius 5 mi).  For the Sports class the turn points were Clines Corner (radius 10 mi), Duran (radius 25 mi), Sandia East (radius 7 mi) and Estancia (radius 5 mi).

In the Standard class Danny Sorenson, KMI, came in third for the day with 996 points for a speed of 84.74 mph over a distance of 255.55 miles.  Michael Reid, 2Y, finished second with 994 points for a speed of 84.6 mph over a distance of 255.39 miles and Bif Huss, BF, won the day with 1000 points for a speed of 85.08 mph over a distance of 258.79 miles. 

In the 15 Meter class Cliff Hilty, CH, came in third for the day with 918 points for a speed of 77.92 mph over a distance of 241.1 miles.  Jim Cumiford, RX, finished second with 980 points for a speed of 83.18 mph over a distance of 250.36 miles and Steve Koerner, GW, won the day with 1000 points for a speed of 84.89 mph over a distance of 255.42 miles.

In the 18 Meter class Lee Kuhlke, H1, came in third for the day with 931 points for a speed of 83.27 mph over a distance of 223.63 miles.  Shack Roberts, FC, finished second with 992 points for a speed of 88.76 mph over a distance of 236.41 miles and Ken Sorenson won the day with 1000 points for a speed of 89.47 mph over a distance of 237.81 miles. 

In the Sports class Bob Faris, BF, came in third for the day with 987 points for a handicapped speed of 66.15 mph over a distance of 169.14 miles.  Mike Westbrook, UN, finished second with 996 points for a speed of 66.78 mph over a distance of 173.05 miles and Tony Condon won the day with 1000 points for a speed of 67.02 mph over a distance of 167.26 miles.

Overall results for the contest in the Standard class were Randy Acree, AV8, third place with 3601 points, Bif Huss, H7, second place with 3675 points and Walt Rogers, WX, first place with 3694 points. 

In the 15 meter class Rick Culbertson, 21, finished third with 3828 points.  Jim Cumiford, RX, won second place with 3904 points.  And Steve Koerner took home the first place trophy with 3923 points.  Steve also took home the Jack Gomez trophy for his speed of 89.82 mph on contest day 3.

In the 18 meter class Lee Kuhlke, H1, finished third with a total of 3543 points.  Shack Roberts, FC, came in second with 3851 points.  And Ken Sorenson, KM, won the contest with 3860 points.

And in the Sports class Tony Condon, K, came in third with 3682 points.  Mike Westbrook, UN, finished second with 3731 points.  And Jim Payne, DT, won the contest with 3801 points.
