13.5 Meter Super Regional - Final Comments

Yesterday's final task was to be an enigma to task planners.  Weather forecasts varied from excellent to awful.  We finally established a task that would keep the pilots fairly close to home or further afield if weather improved.  The turnpoints in this assigned area task consisted of Flanders and Blackwater Creek which provided a downwind dash home.  Morgan Sandercock won the day in the Sparrowhawk while Jim Lamb was second in his Silent.  The contest was concluded with a great dinner at Red Wing Restaurant, thanks Mihai!  Steve Arndt was overall winner followed by Francois Pin and Morgan Sandercock who were tied for second place.

I want to thank Andy McQuigg for a bang-up job as CD,  Aaron, Ray, Izumi, and Jesse for great tows,  Mihai and Nina Tanjala for Seminole Lake support, especially for keeping everyone well fed!  Weather duty was shared by Ted Haller, Ken Goshorn and Glen Betzoldt. John Farrington is always there in the background, ready to help at any minute.  Thanks John.  This contest could not have been possible without Tiffany Fidler stepping up to provide scoring support from her home in Michigan.  I have therefore voted Tiffany MVP!

I would like to comment that contests or similar events should not be scheduled so close together that you run out of volunteers.  I think we were lucky from that standpoint after having had three consecutive week-long events.
