13.5 Meter Super Regional - March 27 - First contest day

Yesterday started out as coldest morning ever recorded for the date in central Florida.  The day proved to be cloudless with wind finally subsiding to NW at 10-15mph.  Only the minimum of 5 gliders are flying and 4 completed the task (assigned area) to Flying Baron and Inverness.  Steve Arndt won the day at 43.48 (handicapped) mph and Morgan Sandercock in second with a handicapped speed of 40.2 mph.  Our program on Perlan Project had to be postponed until tonight when the ravenous pilots ran out of pizza and it got too cold before the next pizza delivery was accomplished.  Today's frosty morning promises to be a better soaring day with warming weather to improve daily for the remainder of the contest.

See ya at the gliderport,

Wes
