13.5 Meter Super Regional - Day 5 (Hopefully) Early

Hello Race Fans,

TSA got about 2 inches of rain yesterday afternoon. I do know that Daniel (428) and Cathy (97) did fly before the weather moved in. The dinner at the airport last night was good and the annual 1-26 Association meeting was lively.

Based on the weather this morning, Weatherkid Daniel mentioned that he was happy it was his teammate Ron Schwartz's day to fly 428. The ground is wet, low clouds moved in about 9 AM, the wind has turned around to the south (finally) and the winds aloft are a bit strong in the 18 mph range. We're planning on gridding at 1 PM and hoping for a 2 hr MAT. We need to find out if the grass is suitable for towplane landings, otherwise we'll have to change our typical grid. Needless to say, pilots are making sure that their trailers are ready to go...

Daniel received a standing ovation at the pilots meeting for his description of his 43 mph RAW speed flight on Day 4. He said everything was perfect except the final glide where he ended up in the field just short of the runway. He did make the finish circle though and got 1000 1-26 points. Too low of a finish for the 13.5 meter contest though so the rest of 13.5 meter pilots let out a huge sigh of relief. He had us beat by about 8 handicapped mph!

The scoresheet issues are being worked today and (once again) I hope that we'll have up to date scoresheets on the website for both contests by the end of the day. Sorry for this problem, I know that many of you are wondering what is going on down here.

I'll talk to you this evening, hopefully after a good day of flying,

Tony (YYY)
