Open/Standard Class Nationals - July 4 Report

They finally got a day in today.  It was a 2-hour MAT with a mandatory first turn at Lovington.

The best conditions were 4 knots to only 7500 MSL, which is far to low to be racing around the Hobbs contest area.

Dick Butler won the Open Class race, and Bif Huss was the best of the Standards.  Both winners averaged 65 mph.

The local RV park put on a cookout with live entertainment.  It was fun, but most of the competitors turned in early.  Very few stayed up for the Hobbs town fireworks.
