Region V South - Day 3 Morning Report

Well, if ribs are your "thing", then last night's meal was not to be missed!  Steve Southwell, owner of Smoakey's Barbecue (and a long-term friend of the R5S Contest), put on a wonderful dinner of ribs, chicken, barbeque and pecan pie.  Many of us think Smoakey's is the best we've ever tasted!  Thanks to Steve and all of his staff for a great meal!

Yesterday was better than expected. By launch time the "5 minute cu's" promised persisted, and lift was better than expected.

Standard Class winner Mike Smith made 59.52 mph. 15m winner Enrique Mertins made 67.12 mph. Sports Class winner Tim McGowin made 57.39 actual mph. Club Class winner Wally Berry made 53.37 actual mph.

Wally "I Love My Crew" Berry gave this morning's safety talk on land-out's.  His advice, in a word, was:  Don't.

Today's tasks:  Assigned Task for Club, 15 Meter and Standard Class and a Modified Assigned Task for Sports Class--about 150 mi and 2:30 hr.

We welcomed Al and Rhonda Tyler and Ed Byars who flew in to visit.
