The 1-26 Championships - Day Eigth Report

Monday, 29 June, was the eighth day of the event yet only the third complete racing day.  The weather was finally breaking open and promised to bring the great soaring that Moriarty pilots were used to.   The task called for Moriarty to Mountainair, over to Rencona and back to Moriarty.  This time the clouds (CU) showed up and streets appeared. All fifteen racers took to the course, but like other days we experienced some more landouts. Four of our competitors did not make it back and had to be retrieved.

Once again Ron Swartz (480) was able to come home first averaging 47.5 mph after 148 miles. Bringing up the second spot was Bill Vickland (238) with a 44.3 mph dash over 133 miles.  Alter three complete contest days, Ron Swartz held the lead with Bob von Hellens in second place due to consistent performances.
